The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing evidence-based breastfeeding education, support, and counseling to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding families. This role promotes, protects, and supports breastfeeding through direct patient care, staff education, policy development, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The Lactation Consultant assesses breastfeeding needs, develops individualized feeding plans, and assists families in achieving their infant feeding goals while ensuring optimal maternal and infant outcomes.
Principal Accountabilities:
Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports.
Provide education regarding breast pump use, milk storage and supplementation.
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, doulas, and other healthcare professionals to support feeding goals.
Monitors, reports, and records symptoms or changes in patient conditions.5. Performs duties in an inpatient/ outpatient setting.
Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
Assist mothers with breastfeeding techniques, positioning, latch assessment, milk production concerns, and pumping strategies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
BLS certification within 6 months of hire
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant or working towards
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Master's degree in nursing or related field.
1+ year of experience in Nursing related field (Mother Baby, NICU, or L&D preferred.)
