Schedule: Full Time | Days | 36 hours per week
Sign-On Bonus:$10,000 for eligible candidates
Bring your critical-care expertise, clinical judgment, and compassion to AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. We are seeking a Registered Nurse – Intensive Care to join our full-time day team.
As a Registered Nurse – Intensive Care, you’ll provide individualized care to patients with complex needs while partnering with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, coordinated, whole-person care. This is an opportunity to use your nursing expertise in an environment where collaboration, professional growth, and compassionate care are valued.
What You’ll Do
As a Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit, you will conduct comprehensive assessments addressing patients’ physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle needs.
Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising those plans as needed.
Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to physician orders and hospital protocols, while monitoring for adverse reactions.
Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and participation in care.
Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care while maintaining effective communication and teamwork.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Organizational and multitasking skills
Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
Ability to work effectively as part of a unit-based team
Effective verbal communication and problem-solving skills
EKG knowledge based on applicable patient population and advanced life-support requirements
Fluent English communication skills, including reading, verbal, and written communication
Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs
Strong abstract reasoning and clinical judgment skills to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care based on patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
One or more years of acute-care hospital experience

Eligible clinicians have the opportunity to earn salary increases of up to 20% through our Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria.
Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.
