Registered Nurse - Extended Recovery - 24 hours - Days

GENERAL SUMMARY

• Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
• Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.
• Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
• Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.

UNIT DESCRIPTION

This unit covers PACU and Pre-OP, and extended recovery. The extended recovery unit has 23 hour stay patients, better known as short stay patients. When census is low, nurse may be required to work in the preop/ PACU which the team member will be trained for.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• BSN preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• ACLS and PALS required
