Job Description:

Overview of Unit/Department 200 West Medical-Surgical is a 28-bed unit that accepts patients from the Emergency Department, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, Critical Care Units, and directly from physicians’ offices. Our patients range in age from young adults – 100+ years of age. This unit primarily specializes in surgical, medical & gynecological/oncology patients. Our surgical population includes hysterectomies, mastectomies, small bowel resections, oncology related surgeries and much more. Our unit does administer chemotherapy on occasion. Our patients are on 6 liters or less of oxygen and may have telemetry. Our med-surg unit sees a wide array of patient diagnoses providing you with a variety of nursing skills and knowledge. Our unit prides itself on working together as a team.   • Education:• Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing• Experience: Preferred: At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specialization• Skills:• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Demonstrate effective leadership abilities• Exhibits valuable time management skills• Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.• Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment• Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri
