Mobile Box provides portable storage containers, ground-level offices, and cold storage. This hands-on role combines service and repair work with CDL driving to keep equipment ready and support customers across the region. Based in Tyler, the employee works at branches and customer sites wherever additional operational support is needed.

The mix of driving, service, and yard work changes with business demand. The role owns assigned work through completion and supports local teams, with no permanent direct reports.

Regional assignments and travel

  • Travel up to 50%, including overnight stays and multi-day assignments, to support staffing gaps, workload surges, service backlogs, and planned projects.
  • Follow the work plan set by the assigned Field Operations leader. Coordinate driving assignments with Dispatch and service priorities with the receiving branch leader.
  • Confirm the location, scope, schedule, and equipment needed before each assignment. Communicate delays, unresolved repairs, and changes in availability promptly.
  • Support Tyler service, yard, and driving needs between regional assignments. A daily return to Tyler is not assured during travel assignments.

Service work and unit readiness

  • Inspect, clean, repair, and prepare storage containers and offices for rental. Complete assigned customer-site service calls and document work performed.
  • Perform container modifications and repairs such as flooring, drywall, doors, locks, hardware, weather sealing, painting, and minor fabrication within demonstrated skills and approved work scope.
  • Clean and restore office interiors, including floors, walls, windows, and fixtures. Check unit function and identify work needed before release for rental.
  • Use welding equipment and perform electrical, HVAC, or other specialized work only within applicable qualifications and company authorization; refer work beyond that scope to qualified personnel.

CDL driving and delivery support

  • Operate assigned commercial vehicles for container and office deliveries, pickups, and transfers. Verify the correct unit, route, delivery instructions, and safe site access.
  • Complete required vehicle inspections, load securement, safe loading and unloading, and delivery records. Coordinate placement with the customer and report damage or access concerns immediately.
  • Maintain required driving and duty records. Account for service and yard work when planning available driving time, and notify Dispatch of fatigue, duty limits, or unsafe conditions.

  • Record completed work, labor, materials, unit numbers, photos, and delivery or service outcomes in approved systems. Obtain approval before purchases or work beyond the assigned scope.
  • Follow company safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and report hazards, incidents, near misses, and damage promptly. Stop work when conditions are unsafe.

Required qualifications

  • Current Class A CDL with credentials appropriate for assigned equipment, current DOT medical qualification, and a driving record acceptable under company and insurance requirements.
  • Ability to meet applicable driver qualification, drug and alcohol testing, and Clearinghouse requirements before performing covered driving duties and throughout employment.
  • Demonstrated commercial driving, safe backing, load securement, and customer-site delivery skills; successful completion of company equipment and driving evaluations.
  • Practical experience in service, repair, construction, equipment rental, or similar work, including safe use of hand and power tools and the ability to assess repair needs.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, keep accurate records using a phone or approved systems, and communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
