Regional Sales Manager

Our client is a well-established manufacturer and distributor of high-performance motion control, gearbox, and power transmission solutions serving a broad range of industrial end markets. Following recent private equity investment, the business has entered an exciting phase of growth, including international acquisitions and expansion of its North American operations. Headquartered in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, the organisation combines the stability of an established business with the agility and growth opportunities of a rapidly expanding company. With fewer than 50 employees at its Mt. Prospect, Illinois location, employees benefit from strong visibility, direct leadership access, and opportunities to make a meaningful impact. As the organisation continues to grow its portfolio and customer base, it is investing heavily in sales talent to support long-term expansion plans. This role is based in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, includes training in the Chicago area, and offers the opportunity to help establish and develop a key territory from the Mt. Prospect, Illinois office.

Job Description

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will:

  • Drive profitable sales growth across a designated territory.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to increase market penetration.
  • Manage and grow existing customer relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with distributors, OEMs, integrators, and end-user customers.
  • Provide technical product consultation on automation, gearbox, motion control, and power transmission solutions.
  • Review customer requirements and develop pricing, quotations, and bid proposals.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product penetration within existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to deliver customer solutions.
  • Travel approximately 40-50% throughout the assigned region.
  • Maintain sales forecasts, pipeline activity, and CRM updates.
  • Support new product introductions and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Represent the company at industry events, customer visits, and trade shows.
  • Deliver accurate territory reporting to the National Sales Manager.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Regional Sales Manager will possess:

  • 7+ years of technical industrial sales experience.
  • Proven success selling automation, motion control, gearbox, mechanical power transmission, electromechanical, or related industrial products.
  • Strong consultative sales and account management skills.
  • Experience developing new business and managing existing customer relationships.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions to engineering and operational stakeholders.
  • Background working with manufacturers, OEMs, distributors, or industrial end-users.
  • Mechanical Engineering or related technical education preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing pricing, quotations, and sales negotiations.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the territory.
  • Self-motivated approach with a track record of exceeding sales objectives.
  • Stable career progression; candidates demonstrating longevity in previous positions will be highly regarded.
  • Previous gearbox or power transmission experience would be advantageous.
