This is a highly visible leadership role overseeing finance for a North American business. The Finance Director will serve as a key partner to the Regional President and senior leadership team, providing financial insight and helping shape the priorities and decisions that drive the business.
The organization is looking for a commercially minded, operationally focused finance leader who can connect financial performance to what is happening across the business and help identify opportunities to improve profitability and support continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Operational Finance
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the Regional President and senior leadership team.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business, its operating model, and the key drivers of financial performance.
- Analyze P&L performance, margins, costs, working capital, cash flow, and operational results.
- Identify the issues and opportunities that matter most and help leadership prioritize accordingly.
- Partner with Operations to improve productivity, profitability, and overall business performance.
FP&A & Financial Management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning for the North American region.
- Oversee regional financial reporting and consolidation across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- Evaluate financial performance against plan and provide clear recommendations around risks and opportunities.
- Develop meaningful reporting and analysis for senior leadership.
- Ensure key initiatives and financial priorities remain on track.
- Translate financial results into clear, actionable business recommendations.
Commercial Finance
- Partner closely with Commercial leadership on pricing, product lines, bids, margins, and profitability.
- Challenge commercial assumptions and provide financial perspective on growth opportunities.
- Support pricing initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve commercial returns.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor and voice in important commercial decisions.
Capital & Strategic Initiatives
- Evaluate CAPEX investments and business cases.
- Partner with Operations and leadership to prioritize capital allocation.
- Support strategic initiatives and future growth opportunities across the region.
- Maintain the flexibility to support potential M&A and integration activity as the business evolves.
Finance Transformation
- Play a key leadership role in the ongoing transformation of the regional finance organization.
- Support a significant ERP implementation and U.S. business migration.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows, reporting, AP/AR, inventory controls, and commercial controls.
- Standardize processes and improve the quality and flow of financial information.
- Leverage technology, automation, and modern reporting tools to improve finance productivity and decision-making.
Leadership
- Lead and develop a lean, high-performing regional finance team.
- Build strong relationships across the organization and establish credibility with senior leaders.
- Bring structure, accountability, and prioritization to a growing business.
- Develop finance talent and strengthen the organization's overall business and financial acumen.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Progressive finance leadership experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or operationally complex environment.
- Experience in Operational Finance, Business Unit Finance, Plant Finance, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and operational financial drivers.
- Strong FP&A experience across budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and performance management.
- Experience partnering closely with Operations and Commercial leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate pricing, margins, costs, investments, and profitability.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to make recommendations without needing perfect information.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge senior leaders when appropriate.
- Highly self-motivated, hands-on, and comfortable working in a lean organization.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
