About Cartesian Therapeutics

Cartesian Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing mRNA-engineered cell therapies for autoimmune diseases. Our mission is to expand the reach of cell therapy to patients living with serious autoimmune conditions through scientific rigor, collaboration, and innovation.

About the Role

Cartesian Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Medical Science Liaison (Senior MSL) to join our growing Medical Affairs team. This field-based role serves as a scientific partner to external experts across the myasthenia gravis, neuromuscular, and cell therapy communities and reports to the VP, Medical Affairs. The position will support a specific territory, and candidates should live within or near the assigned geography.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and maintain strong, compliant scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and healthcare professionals across neuromuscular and cell therapy centers in both academic and community settings.
  • Engage in high-quality peer-to-peer scientific exchange on clinical data, study design, and disease-state topics related to myasthenia gravis and Cartesian's investigational programs.
  • Serve as a scientific resource for external stakeholders by responding to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Support clinical trial execution through ongoing investigator engagement, site collaboration, and appropriate trial awareness and recruitment support activities.
  • Collect and communicate field insights on treatment practices, emerging research, unmet needs, and competitive developments to inform Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Help shape territory engagement plans and KOL mapping in alignment with broader Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Contribute to Medical Affairs conference planning, including identification of strategic congresses, KOL engagement planning, and coordination of scientific presence and activities.
  • Represent Cartesian at scientific congresses and meetings; facilitate scientific exchange, capture key insights, and communicate learnings internally.
  • Support advisory boards and other scientific meetings, including preparation of materials and capture of feedback to inform strategy.
  • Participate in patient advocacy initiatives and outreach efforts, as appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date scientific knowledge in myasthenia gravis, neuromuscular disease, and cell therapy while ensuring all activities align with company policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and other teams to support shared scientific and operational objectives.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned territory (approximately 60-70%).

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required: MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA
  • At least 3+ years of relevant field medical/scientific exchange/clinical trial support experience; myasthenia gravis, rare neuromuscular disease, or cell therapy or autologous gene therapy experience required
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver high-quality scientific presentations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and travel 60-70%, including occasional weekends
  • Ability to organize and lead high level projects
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Self-driven attitude, flexibility, resilience and innovation in their work

Cartesian Therapeutics considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
