BASIS Ed is seeking an experienced special educator and administrator to serve as the BASIS Ed Texas Regional Director of Exceptional Student Services (ESS)- Programming.
Position Summary
The Director of ESS is responsible for overseeing the compliant implementation of programs to support students eligible for special education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) or related aids and services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act within BASIS Charter Schools in Texas. Under the supervision of the Director of the Vice President of Exceptional Student Services, the Director of ESS will work with Central Office partners, including School Management and Finance and Accounting to support school leaders who are responsible for managing special programs within their schools. The Director of ESS will provide technical assistance and training to school leaders to maintain compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements and to implement oversight agency guidance, where appropriate. Responsibilities include evaluating current levels of compliance within existing systems and processes and designing process improvements, where appropriate, to ensure compliant policies and procedures. This individual will work directly with regulatory agencies to ensure the schools compliance with the IDEA and state requirements, including document compliance, data management, and grants and state funding compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research skills and be experienced working in special education compliance and creating policies and procedures. This team member will interact with various departments and all levels of management in the interest of achieving Compliance department strategic objectives to aid schools in smooth and compliant operations, while embodying BASIS.ed philosophy and its value proposition.
