Department: Leadership & Instructional Foundation for Texas (LIFT)

Reports To: Assistant Director

Job Goal:

Support district and campuses involved in Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT). Assist and build capacity with campus leadership teams and Region 4 program staff members through professional development, observation, coaching, and feedback to improve student achievement and promote excellence in educational programs to meet and exceed state and federal accountability standards. Coach, model, and lead capacity-building for staff on Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) grant teams and serve as the point of contact for district and campus LASO grant implementation.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Master's degree

Certification/Licensure

  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate for the appropriate content and grade levels
  • Successful completion of the Reading Academies Cohort Leader Screener, preferred

Experience

  • Three years of experience in leadership position(s) related to elementary or secondary reading and/or math such as team leader, instructional coach, instructional specialist, or curriculum coordinator with a record of successfully impacting student achievement
  • Five years of experience teaching reading and/or math
  • Experience in improving student outcomes at the campus or district level
  • Experience in providing effective instructional coaching, including peer coaching
  • Experience in developing and presenting effective professional development
  • Experience in supporting all learners with an understanding of Universal Design for Learning

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Broad-based knowledge of math and reading/language arts pedagogy, assessment, instructional technology, and instructional coaching
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within and across collaborative teams
  • Knowledge of the Texas Open Education Resource (OER) Materials for K-5 and processes related to their implementation, preferred
  • Knowledge of the reading/language arts research-based instructional strategies (RBIS), preferred

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as either a LIFT District Coach (DC) and/or Campus Coach (CC) to build strong relationships with district leaders to drive instructional leadership and High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) planning and implementation at the district level.
  • Support other LIFT DCs and CCs responsible for working closely with the LIFT Leads (LLs) to coach and/or build and execute strategic district and campus-level plans for Instructional Leadership practices and HQIM planning and implementation.
  • Exhibit strong content and program knowledge and experience, leveraging your expertise and that of their larger team to support LEA leadership through in-person coaching sessions, professional development, and HQIM implementation support over the grant period.
  • Coordinate program support for the campuses in LIFT and the execution of their shared grant activities and manage the fidelity of implementation.
  • Provide LIFT support and demonstrate proactive communication among area district/charters, other regional service centers, and the Texas Education Agency regarding assigned grant initiatives.
  • Deliver initial training and implementation support coaching for campus leaders, instructional coaches and teachers on implementing instructional leadership systems and HQIM Planning and Implementation.
  • Collaborate with DCs and LLs for the planning and execution of grant and program activities to district and campus leadership teams aligned to the implementation of HQIM, namely Bluebonnet Learning.
  • Conduct implementation check-ins with campus leaders and staff weekly, with coaching sessions happening as needed, at least monthly.
  • Complete visits to campuses to provide program support at least twice monthly to meet with, participate in, and deliver professional development, learning walks, PLCs etc. These visits will also be used to calibrate on planning and implementation support from the entire LIFT ESC or approved provider team.
  • Participate in internal meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure team alignment and ongoing professional development and support.
  • Lead appropriate up-front training for campus leadership teams and/or teachers.
  • Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with campus leadership teams and teachers to successfully support change management, grant, and program activities.
  • Develop, present, and facilitate effective professional development.
  • Develop educational resources to support instruction and positive student outcomes.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of ongoing needs assessment and services for Region 4 customer districts.
  • Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position.
