We value safety, reliability, teamwork, and quality work. Every person in the yard directly impacts our customers, our community, and the efficiency of our operations.

The Opportunity

As a Recycling Laborer, you will be on the front line of our recycling operations—handling incoming scrap, preparing materials for resale, and ensuring loads are ready for shipment. This role is ideal for someone who likes physical, outdoor work, wants to learn how a recycling yard runs, and takes pride in doing the job right.

You will build skills in material identification, grading, and equipment operation while contributing to a safe and efficient yard. Over time, you can grow your knowledge of metals, machinery, and logistics, opening the door to increased responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Receive incoming scrap materials, assist customers with unloading, and direct materials to the correct yard areas based on type and grade.
  • Sort, grade, and process scrap metal to meet company and mill specifications using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Operate torches, forklifts, pallet movers, and other yard equipment safely and according to procedures.
  • Load trucks and containers accurately, verify materials and quantities, and help ensure loads are secure and meet safety standards.
  • Complete basic paperwork, maintain accurate records, and keep your work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first few months, you consistently sort and process materials to the correct grade and specification with minimal supervision.
  • You handle customers and vendors in a courteous, professional manner and help keep traffic and unloading areas moving safely and efficiently.
  • You operate assigned equipment safely, report issues promptly, and contribute to a clean, organized yard environment.
  • You demonstrate strong attendance, communicate clearly with your team, and can be relied on to complete assigned tasks on time and to standard.

What We're Looking For

  • Comfort with physical, outdoor work, including lifting up to 50 pounds frequently (and up to 100 pounds occasionally), standing and walking for extended periods, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Attention to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to company and regulatory safety rules.
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn material types and grading standards, and complete paperwork legibly and accurately.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-first attitude when working with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
