Recuperative Care Coordinator (RCC)

About Us:
Eight million Americans are one paycheck away from becoming homeless. In Washtenaw County, 5000 people are experiencing homelessness. The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) was established in 1982 and is the primary provider of services and emergency shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness in Washtenaw County. SAWC is housed at the Robert J. Delonis Center in downtown Ann Arbor. SAWC works with a diverse range of people struggling with homelessness, including first-time homelessness, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and people battling substance abuse and/or mental health issues. Services are offered through our core programs: Residential Emergency Shelter, Non-Residential, Shelter Diversion, Critical-Time Intervention, and Warming Shelter. The SAWC serves nearly 1500 people annually.

Position Profile: The Recuperative Care Coordinator (RCC) is responsible for coordination and outreach with local health providers to accept clients into the SAWC’s medical respite program. Once admitted, the Coordinator creates individual service plans that outlines housing readiness case management provision. The Recuperative Care Coordinator also provides referrals for basic needs and prepares a plan with the client to identify safe, affordable housing as soon as possible. They work extensively with community resources and act as a representative of SAWC while liaising with community partners and health agencies. The Recuperative Care Coordinator is expected to contribute to the efforts to secure long term funding sources for the longevity and growth of the Recuperative Care Program. Lastly, this role serves as a task supervisor to two Operation Specialists within the program to ensure the client’s basic needs are met.
The position is a salaried, exempt position with an annual salary range between $52,000-58,000. This role is represented by our Union, the Delonis Workers United of Ypsilanti Industrial Workers of the World.
The position is funded through local funding and SAWC is interested in securing additional funding to sustain the RCC position for more than three years.
Recuperative Care Coordinator Responsibilities:
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30 to 5pm, occasionally 10:30 to 7 and weekends as needed
