The Office of Recruiting at Montana State University-Northern (MSUN) seeks applications for their Recruiting Specialist position. This full-time Professional position is on a 12-month contract following the fiscal year and eligible for MUS Benefits.

Position Details

General Statement

The Office of Recruiting at Montana State University-Northern connects prospective students and their families with the opportunities available at MSU-Northern through campus visits, community outreach, presentations, individualized guidance, and recruitment activities across Montana and beyond. Every day is different, offering opportunities to build relationships, tell the university's story, and help students find a place where they can succeed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key duties including, but not limited to the following:

Student Recruitment and Engagement

  • Maintain current knowledge of university academic programs and admissions standards
  • Provide correct and appropriate information to prospective students and serve as a central point of contact for students and their families
  • Build relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, teachers, and others through events, as well as face-to-face, phone, email, text, mail, and other communications
  • Represent MSU-Northern through campus visits, school visits, college fairs, community events, and informational presentations to prospective students, families, and other audiences
  • Provide campus tours and assist prospective students through the application and admission process
  • Assist with on-campus events and represent MSU-Northern at university and community events
  • Assist with the coordination and daily support of the Student Ambassador Program

Recruitment Travel and Outreach

  • Travel extensively (approximately 25 weeks annually), including in-state, out-of-state, and international destinations

Records, Systems, and Administrative Support

  • Enter and maintain data accurately and in accordance with data security and privacy standards
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for student contact management, communication, and outreach efforts

Collaboration and Institutional Service

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to accomplish departmental goals
  • Collaborate with other departments to stay current on academic programs, policies, procedures, and student activities
  • Contribute to the overall customer service function of Student Central
  • Serve on institutional committees as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the institution

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, or
  • Associate's degree plus relevant work experience demonstrating excellent communication skills
  • Current and valid Montana driver's license or the ability to obtain one within a month of hire

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working with students in admissions, recruiting, residence life, student government, orientation, academic support, or other campus organizations
  • Knowledge or experience using Anthology Reach or a similar CRM
  • Knowledge or experience using Banner or similar database
  • Experience planning and coordinating projects and events
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service experience
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Sales experience
