General Purpose

Fosters student success through the Davis Technical College application and admissions process. The Recruiting and Admissions Advisor I will have functional knowledge of programs available, and services offered by Davis Technical College to ensure all student needs are met prior to enrollment, thereby facilitating a seamless transition into the program. Areas of knowledge will include financial aid and scholarships, assessment of prior learning, Americans with Disabilities Act, training programs, related occupations, and established pathways with educational partners.

Depending on experience:

Recruiting and Admissions Advisor I: Pay range $23 - $27.42

Recruiting and Admissions Advisor II: Pay range $24 - $28.79

Job Focus

  • Provides career guidance and pre-enrollment advisement regarding all areas of Student Services.
  • Provides advisement to potential students on issues such as financial aid information, ADA related services, career goals, and professional development. Serves as intermediary for communication with staff, faculty, and others up to the point of program enrollment.
  • Acts as a mentor/advocate for potential students, providing support through positive communication and problem resolution.
  • Meets with potential students and provides tours and program information.
  • Assists students in connecting with off-campus resources beyond those available or provided by the College.
  • Works cooperatively with community agencies, organizations, and CTE Coordinators to improve student admissions experience.
  • Fosters relationships with secondary and higher education partners to guide students through pathways toward stackable credentials.
  • Provides qualitative and quantitative documentation of outreach to students in all areas utilizing CRM and recruiting systems.
  • Manages incoming phone calls and email inquiries, guiding other staff in communicating inquiries with key staff.
  • Identifies prior education to evaluate the possibility of accelerating student progress with coordination with Assessment Center, as appropriate.
  • Provides presentations and engaging demonstrations of Davis Technical College programs and resources to outside partners including secondary education, employers, and community organizations.
  • Assists other Recruiting and Admissions Specialists with normal workloads and (at the Director's discretion) is assigned as the primary advisor for one or more programs and/or specialties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience directly related to recruitment and/or career/employment advising.
  • An equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be accepted.
  • Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and the public.
  • Ability to give presentations and speak to large, diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently and manage work assignments in a highly interpersonal contact environment
  • Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload and time deadlines.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with little or no supervision
  • Ability to perform with attention to detail and follow through.
  • Proficiency with computers and various software systems is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Veterans' benefits, financial aid, or other student needs preferred.
  • Experience in open entry/exit competency-based training, Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems, student information system, and student management retention system will be helpful.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language preferred.
