Job Summary and Qualifications:

We are currently looking for a Recreational Therapist to join our team. As our Therapist, you will assist patients in regaining or developing their highest functional level considering their impairments. You will also participate in the Performance Improvement Program as well as the educational and orientation programs. You will train support personnel too. Your duties and responsibilities may include:

  • You will perform evaluations and provide personalized therapeutic recreational programs to restore, remediate or rehabilitate a patient's physical, mental and emotional well-being.
  • You will participate in rounding and proactively respond to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact overall patient experience.
  • You will document patient activities and progress, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and modify it as necessary to improve treatment outcomes.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Activities Therapy
  • One year experience working in therapeutic recreation programs preferred
  • Current CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist), MT-BS (Music Therapist – Board Certified). ATR-BC (Art Therapist – Board Certified) or BC-DMT (Board Certified Dance /Movement Therapist
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association) 
  • Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) required within 60 days of hire in Behavioral Health Unit
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC skills.

 What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Other-Fingerprint Required
  • Bachelors Degree
  • (CTRS) Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, or (ATR) Registered Art Therapist, or (MT-BC) Music Therapy - Board Certified, or (RecTherapy) Recreational Therapist
