Summary of Position: Works independently to ensure success of the Student Recreation and Wellness Programs along with providing assistance for the Employee Wellness Program with oversight provided by the Manager- Health, Wellness and Recreation.

This position is a part-time (18 hours/week) during the school year (September-May) non-benefit eligible position. Monday-Friday flexible schedule with some occasional weekend hours depending on the needs of the department.

Essential Functions

  1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.

  2. Perform office function's which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.

  3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

  4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.

  5. Esports/Cavalier Arena Oversight -Supporting Action/Task May Include:

  • Recruit, register, and coordinate Esports programs
  • Provide oversight of the Cavalier Esports Arena
  • Oversee Esports activities like varsity, club sports, intramurals, and extramural activities
  1. Recreation/Athletic Department Oversight -Supporting Action/Task May Include:
  • Oversee recreational activities including intramurals, extramural, and club sports
  • Recruit and supervise recreation work-study position
  • Assist with gameday operations, recruitment, fundraising, and promotion of the Western Recreation/Athletics programs
  • Support Manager- Health, Wellness and Recreation with daily administration and operational duties
  1. Student Wellness Program Oversight -Supporting Action/Task May Include:
  • Develop and implement student health promotion strategies
  • Promote the use of Student Health Services
  • Plan and host wellness activities and event
  • Develop, track, and evaluate program goals
  • Support Wellness and Athletics Manager with data collection, goal setting and action planning to improve student wellness at Western

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree OR
  • Education combined with appropriate occupational experience in related field totaling 2 yrs. OR
  • Occupational experience in related field totaling 2 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in related field

Required Certification/Licenses:

  • Obtain and maintain valid CPR/First Aid certification
