The Parks & Recreation Department is hiring a Recreation Maintenance Worker for the Treadwell Ice Arena!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Treadwell Arena staff is a small group of dedicated individuals, and we are looking for a team player to join our crew. Ideally, we would like an individual who can safely operate machinery and equipment and is interested in providing a quality ice surface at a favorite recreational facility.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

This position works a varied schedule approximately 20 hours per week (Monday through Sunday) 5:30am-midnight at Treadwell Arena in Douglas.

The ice rink season runs approximately from Mid-July through April each year.

Typical Responsibilities

Under direction of the Lead Maintenance Worker, this position is responsible for:

  • Assists with installing, removing and maintaining the ice rink surface
  • Operates the ice resurfacing machine and ice edger to maintain ice conditions
  • Performs daily routine facility maintenance and light repair tasks including facility maintenance checks and ice maintenance
  • Assists with cleaning of work areas and outside grounds
  • Operates skate sharpener and blade sharpener and keeps all rental ice skates in good working condition for public use
  • Assists the front office staff when needed
  • Lifts, and carries heavy objects (nets)
  • Completes required paperwork associated with duties, such as accident reports and maintenance logs.
  • Attends safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Other related duties as assigned

Education:

None

Age:

Not less than 18 years of age; AND

Other:

A valid Drivers License at time of appointment and for continued employment

Current First Aid/CPR certificate within 30 days of appointment
