Distinguishing Features of the ClassAn employee in this class performs a variety of routine housekeeping duties in assigned City recreation facilities and community centers. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, supplemented by instructions on new or unusual assignments. Work includes sweeping and mopping floors; vacuuming carpets; dusting; cleaning restrooms, lobbies and front desk areas, and kitchen areas; scrubbing toilets and sinks; cleaning ovens and stoves; cleaning glass windows and doors; emptying trash; maintaining supplies and storage area; and minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and unclogging toilets. Work requires the ability to operate equipment related to custodial care and the use of chemical cleaning supplies. Â Employee must abide by safety rules and regulations and the use, care, and accuracy in handling chemical cleaning supplies. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, loud noise, vibration, hazards associated with maintenance work, fumes, chemicals, mists, gases and oils. Duties may also expose the employees to human body fluids and thus the work is subject to the OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens. Work is performed under the general supervision and is reviewed by observation of quality and quantity of work completed and timeliness of completion.
