Under general direction, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the creation, promotion, implementation, and programming activities for all recreation programs within the Clearwater recreation facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Creates, develops, implements and monitors programming, activities, and other services for the recreation facilities of Clearwater; manages participation numbers in RecTrac, maximizes fitness center, multi-purpose space, gymnasium and field usage, and markets and promotes programs within the community.
Develops, organizes, and implements the After-School Program, Camp Programs, Silver Sneaker Programs, age specific activities, field trips, activity lessons, games, arts, parents nights, and various other special events and services; researches and develops appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and activity guidelines.
Manages, monitors, updates, and coordinates the facility program calendar; sets up classes, recommends pricing structures, changes seasonal programs, and ensures that all programs are organized to run smoothly; creates fliers, marketing materials, and promotional brochures.
Greets, engages, registers, directs, and performs all customer service activities for the recreation facilities; answers phones, provides online responses, and ensures all patrons have all necessary information that has been requested.
Maintains, monitors, and tracks expenditures for the programs and services offered; submits financial paperwork, manages resource and program allocation, and tracks all purchases.
Researches, gathers, and compiles information for field trips, guest speakers, instructors, camp supplies, and necessary equipment; gathers rental information and ensures the collection of all fees.
Interviews, hires, and oversees potential summer staff, camp leaders, and program counselors; makes staffing recommendations, provides training, and oversees hired personnel; creates work schedules and ensures all work is in compliance with policies and procedures.
Performs any and all duties and tasks required or necessary to ensure all programs and centers are professionally developed, organized, well-staffed, and meet the needs of the community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Licensed Child Care Positions:
Program emphasis on developing, organizing and implementing activities for school-aged children in youth after school and summer programs.
Ensures that the program complies with all Pinellas County Licensing Board (PCLB) and grant requirements.
Maintains records and reports and enters data to support program.
Minimum Qualifications
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State drivers license is required.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. Certificate PLUS two (2) years of customer service, recreational, or program development experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
