Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor - Athletics, coordinates and supervises youth and adult programs, leagues, rentals, tournaments, special events, classes, and clinics within the athletics division. This position is responsible for all aspects of program service delivery, including creation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and assessment. This requires staff coordination and supervision, facility oversight, support for budget management, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all participants and guests.
JOB SUMMARY
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises seasonal and part-time staff assigned to athletic programs. Assigns the work of volunteers and contracted officials. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree with studies in Parks and Recreation, Administration, Physical Education, or related field preferred.
1 year of athletic programming experience required, 3 years' experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license with good driving record.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certified or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) through the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) preferred.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Ability to carry out assigned tasks proficiently.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to operate a small truck, tractor, utility vehicle, and a variety of tools.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Computer, printer, copier, phone and related office equipment. Small truck, shovel, rake, tractor, utility vehicle, tamper, field drag, tape measure, bases, chalk, paint, hammer, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and guide string.
