Recreation Assistant – After School Program (Age 16+) Make a Difference After School! Looking for a fun, active job after school? Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age
Experience working with children, youth, students, or large groups preferred
Must possess or obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within two (2) weeks of hire
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
Must successfully pass a background check through the St. Helens School District
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with the public, students, parents, and fellow staff members.
Demonstrate respectful communication, positive attitude, and professionalism in all interactions.
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Knowledge of rules and fundamentals of a variety of sports, games, and recreational activities

Job Duties
Supervise and engage participants in after-school recreational activities
Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for youth participants
Assist with the preparation, setup, organization, and cleanup of crafts, activities, games, equipment, and program areas utilized throughout the after-school program
Monitor, maintain, and organize program equipment, supplies, and facility spaces
Enforce program rules and safety standards while promoting positive behavior
Address participant concerns and resolve conflicts in a professional manner
Assist with preparing and distributing flyers, brochures, promotional materials, and public relations materials
Provide clerical support, including program registrations, answering phones, and maintaining correspondence with other divisions and agencies
Assist with the development of class schedules and implementation of activities and programs
Coordinate recreational programming and facility usage with schools, community partners, businesses, and outside agencies
Work collaboratively with the St. Helens School District and community organizations utilizing recreation facilities
Assist with site operations, including opening and closing facilities as assigned
Support participants, families, and staff with excellent customer service
Perform other related duties as assigned
Schedule
Part-Time Monday - Thursday
Hours are generally after school until 5:15 PM
Additional hours may be available for special events, recreational programs, and school breaks
Must be available to work occasional evenings or weekends for family engagement activities, typically held once per quarter
Rate of Pay
$15.45 per hour
