    Records Management Fellow - State, Tribal, and Local Plans & Grants DivisionSummaryAmerican Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the National Park Service is seeking one Records Management Fellow to assist STLPG (State, Tribal, and Local Plans & Grants) division staff with cultural resource programs through grants to states, tribes, territories, and other eligible recipients that support the preservation of America's historic places and history. Start Date: 11/30/2026End Date: 7/6/2027* a 32-week commitment is required for this positionLocation Details/Description: Remote or onsite in Washington, D.C.The State, Tribal, and Local Plans & Grants Division (STLPG), located in Washington D.C., provides preservation assistance through a number of Historic Preservation Fund grant programs that support the preservation of America's historic places and diverse history. This position is onsite based out of D.C. with some opportunities for telework. The position will allow for up to 60% telework but the fellow must be available to be onsite for the necessary projects.For more information about the State, Tribal, Local Plans & Grants Division, please visit the NPS website.Position Overview: State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division (STLPG) is a national program at National Park Service (NPS) headquarters office that supports cultural resource programs through grants to states, tribes, territories, and other eligible recipients. The source of funding for the grants is Congressional appropriations from the Historic Preservation Fund. The fellow will work directly with NPS staff in parks and/or programs around Washington, DC to assist in the management of grant projects, primarily of archival or museum collections. The ACE Fellow:Reviews applications for grant programs, primarily of the collections or history project types and makes recommendations for funding for awarding officerDrafts the award certificate package for applications recommended for funding by grant programsMake recommendations on scope and budget review of selected applications and drafts grant agreements for awarding officerReviews grant deliverables, primarily of the collections or history project types, and makes recommendations on approval to awarding officerCorresponds with grantees as directed by the awarding officer to connect grantees with answers to queries or published guidanceAppraises and arranges Federal records, assists with transferring records to Federal Records Centers and/or the National ArchivesCoordinates and carries out recommendations for digitization of recordsPlans, organizes, and promotes records maintenance and disposition within the division The Fellow will have the opportunity to:Learn grants management practices and processes for managing federal cultural resource grantsAcquire skills in reviewing applications and grant deliverablesDevelop communication skills with grant professionals, internal and externalParticipate in grant manager meetingsLearn records management and archival best practices for managing cultural resource collections and Federal records Acquire skills in appraising, arranging, and inventorying collections of Federal records Apply knowledge of records management disposition schedules and procedures when transferring records to Federal Records Centers and/or the National Archives Training Provided: In addition to the operational responsibilities, there will also be an important educational component. Training opportunities may include:Grants management and financial assistance statutes, regulations, policies, and practices of the federal government and the National Park Service.Archival and collections management specific practices for the National Park Service program operations of the Cultural Resources Directorate, STLPG division.Site tours of grant projects within the Washington, DC area, within travel budget allowance, or where other opportunities allow.Leadership and project management skill development This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups. Position Benefits  Living Allowance: The ACE Fellow is expected to contribute 40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $1100/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly. Housing: Housing is the responsibility of the ACE Fellow and not provided by ACE or the National Park Service. Public Land Corps Hiring Authority: Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a federal hiring authority upon completion of their term of service. PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age and citizenship.
