Summary/Objective

The part time Records Clerk retrieves and re-files records for County departments and the public. This position is a permanent part time position and with the option of flexible working hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Retrieves records, files and storage containers in the Records Center.
  • Disassembles and assembles record storage containers and maintain order for them.
  • Planning and organizing skills required to prioritize work and use time efficiently with only minor supervision.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Records Services Director.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Customer service skills and aptitude are required to respond promptly to customers' needs.
  • Ability to maintain a calm attitude when working at any of the departments being serviced.
  • Ability to operate modern office equipment this includes computer, copier, and fax.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately, and maintain neat well-organized records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with changes, delays and unexpected events.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, officials, and the public.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma

Licenses and Certifications

  • Daily sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, pulling, reaching, lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing up and down ladders to file and retrieve boxes and files located on either fixed or mobile shelving units.
  • Working in a windowless basement with overhanging pipes and wires.
