    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Assumes responsibilities for orderly welcoming of visitors to the campus, and aids in the efficient operation of the school office.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Certification Requirements

    • High school graduate or GED equivalent
    • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check

    Special Knowledge and Skills

    • Pleasant voice on telephone
    • Personable attitude and appearance to public
    • Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
    • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to follow written instructions

    Experience:

    • Minimum of one (1) year clerical experience in an office setting

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Act as receptionist at the main office
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • Answer the telephone in a pleasant manner
    • Make appointments for parent-teacher conferences
    • Assist with typing when necessary
    • Assist the data processing clerk when necessary
    • Handle all homework assignment sheets for students
    • Dispense supplies to the teachers
    • Maintain office files
    • Distribute items from parents to students
    • Distribute mail daily
    • Instruct and assist teachers in using office machines
    • Distribute phone messages to students, faculty and staff
    • Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
    • Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
    • Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
    • Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
    • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
    • Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics
    • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

    • Office equipment - personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position

    • Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
