Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Recall Service Remedy Specialist to support automotive safety recall investigations, service remedy development, and repair feasibility assessments. This role requires a combination of hands-on automotive diagnostic and repair experience, OEM automotive engineering or service experience, and strong project coordination skills.

The successful candidate will evaluate vehicle issues, review technical documentation, assess repair procedures and tooling requirements, coordinate vehicle and laboratory activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop effective, practical service repair solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Review safety investigations and technical reports to assess potential root causes, issue scope, complexity, and possible service remedies.
Analyze repair procedures, engineering reports, CAD drawings, repair concerns, tooling requirements, parts catalogs, fasteners, chemicals, and labor time studies.
Evaluate repair feasibility and service impact, considering dealership repair processes and execution requirements.
Coordinate with engineering, service, parts, supply chain, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to develop service solutions.
Coordinate vehicles, parts, tools, and laboratory resources for repair trials, component removal and installation activities, and vehicle inspections.
Participate in laboratory events and vehicle evaluations, document findings, and track follow-up actions.
Manage multiple recall activities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, quality, and project timelines.
Track project milestones, identify risks, provide status updates, and ensure timely completion of action items.
Support remedy steering committee meetings, project logs, meeting coordination, process development, and investigation tracking as needed.
Conduct local travel to dealerships, assembly plants, supplier facilities, vehicle holding locations, and other sites as required.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of hands-on automotive diagnostic and repair experience, including vehicle troubleshooting, repair execution, and validation of repair effectiveness.
Minimum 5–8 years of OEM automotive experience in service engineering, vehicle engineering, vehicle development, technical support, or a related technical discipline.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Automotive Technology, or another technical discipline from an accredited university.
Strong understanding of automotive systems, including suspension, brakes, electrical systems, powertrain, and related vehicle components.
Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic methods, repair procedures, and dealership service operations.
Strong project management, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing tasks, and drive action items to completion.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and accountable, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related computer applications.
Important: Candidates must demonstrate direct, hands-on vehicle troubleshooting and repair experience. Experience limited to technical support, training, quality, validation, or engineering support without direct vehicle repair responsibilities will not meet this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

ASE certification in one or more automotive repair areas.
Experience evaluating repair complexity, service feasibility, tooling needs, and dealership execution requirements.
Familiarity with manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, CAD, EBOM, SBOM, AMPS, and engineering change notices.
Experience supporting automotive safety recalls, service campaigns, repair trials, or remedy development.
Work Location

This position is 100% onsite at the Auburn Hills CTC facility. Local travel may be required to support recall investigations, vehicle inspections, laboratory activities, and remedy development.

Interested candidates: Please submit your updated resume highlighting relevant hands-on automotive repair experience, OEM background, and service engineering or recall-related experience.
