The City of Laramie seeks an enthusiastic and energetic Recreation Program Generalist to serve as a Water Aerobics Instructor for the Parks and Recreation Department's aquatic fitness programs. This position includes planning and leading group water fitness classes, ensuring participant safety, and fostering an inclusive, motivating environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate well verbally.
  • Must be able to work independently and adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to interact positively and professionally with adult and senior patrons.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are required (training will be provided to successful candidates).

Preferred Qualifications:

A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying.

  • Experience teaching or assisting in aquatic fitness, swimming, or water aerobics programs.
  • Current certification in Water Aerobics, Aqua Fitness, or Water Exercise from a recognized organization (e.g., AEA, Red Cross, YMCA, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of recreation and fitness program principles, safety protocols, and class design.
  • Ability to project their voice and communicate clearly in a loud aquatic facility.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and take initiative.
