Description

The real estate program manager will work closely with the director of external affairs and other housing development team members to advance our team's mission. 

Our Housing Development Team is dedicated to sustaining an equitable housing development ecosystem to meet the needs of our communities across the state, with a focus on:

  • Training emerging developers to engage in community-focused real estate development 
  • Removing barriers to housing development
  • Connecting resources and aligning agency programs

This work will fall under the following categories:

The implementation of CEDAM's Real Estate Development Boot Camp program, the Affordable Housing Forum, and other housing-focused trainings 

    • Building relationships with sponsors, speakers, and other industry leaders
    • Managing events from start to finish: Curriculum development, budget development, coordinating speakers, event logistics (in coordination with CEDAM's events team), and providing support to participants throughout and beyond the event
    • Developing a mechanism to track Boot Camp participant success beyond the training
    • Facilitate trainings and sessions as experience allows 

    Monitoring and supporting key affordable housing policy and program updates.

      • Working with the policy and communications team to update our members and partners about legislative and state agency news that affects the affordable housing field
      • Managing a coalition of CEDAM members who are engaged with the LIHTC QAP
      • Leading or participating in coalitions as opportunities arise or are identified

      Exploring ways to expand training and/or technical assistance offered by CEDAM.

        • Assess gaps in CEDAM's ability to meet training and technical assistance requests
        • Assess the interest and needs of existing and potential sponsors and funders to expand current programs
        • Create proposals to meet identified needs
        • Coordinate with third parties to develop training and resources that meet the needs of our field

        Supporting the Michigan State Housing Development Authority's (MSHDA) 15 Regional Housing Partnerships (RHP) as they implement customized housing action plans.

          • Understanding the Michigan Statewide Housing Plan (Plan) and the RHP structure
          • Working with MSHDA, RHP Leads and members, and the CEDAM network in each region to identify and address organizational capacity and policy obstacles to Plan implementation
          • Conducting and coordinating trainings and facilitated discussions for the RHPs
          • Supporting contractual relationships with MSHDA and subcontractors

          Working with our partners at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to distribute predevelopment assistance funds to Redevelopment Ready Certified (RRC) communities

            • Support the predevelopment assistance program through project management, contract execution, and technical support as needed

            Cross-Organization Support

The candidate will be committed to creative problem-solving, keeping multiple projects moving at the same time, and continuous improvement of our programs.

            Due to the nature of this position, the Real Estate Program Manager will need to be prepared to travel statewide, at times being on the road multiple days a week. The right candidate for this position will enjoy being in the field, working directly with CEDAM's partners.

            The CEDAM team works remotely, and new staff members have access to a home office stipend to assist with outfitting their space. Our office is located in the REO Town neighborhood in Lansing, MI, and is available to work from as needed. 

            The CEDAM team meets twice-monthly in Lansing. Candidates may be based anywhere in Michigan but must be willing and able to travel to Lansing and other areas of the state. Travel is reimbursed at the IRS rate (except for travel to the CEDAM office), but applicants do not need to own a car to be considered.

            COMPENSATION

            This position falls within pay grade 4. We offer an annual salary of $80,340 for this position depending on qualifications.
