    Preferred Materials is seeking an experienced and motivated Ready Mix Plant Manager to lead our Palmetto, Florida ready mix operation. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a critical facility serving Florida's growing construction market while leading a team dedicated to safety, quality, customer service, and operational excellence.

    As the Plant Manager, you will serve as the operational leader of the facility, overseeing plant production, fleet coordination, safety performance, quality control, customer satisfaction, and employee development. You'll have the support of on-site Assistant Plant Managers while driving day-to-day operations and fostering a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    What You'll Do

    Lead Plant Operations

    • Oversee all aspects of ready mix plant operations, batching activities, and daily production.
    • Ensure timely, accurate concrete production while meeting mix design specifications and customer requirements.
    • Manage inventory levels, raw material ordering, and plant performance.
    • Monitor key performance indicators and drive continuous operational improvements.
    • Maximize plant uptime, efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

    Develop and Lead a High-Performing Team

    • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and support to drivers, yard personnel, and plant staff.
    • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on accountability, communication, and operational excellence.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, employee development discussions, and workforce planning.
    • Promote employee engagement and professional growth.

    Champion Safety and Environmental Excellence

    • Lead with a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and corrective actions.
    • Support accident investigations, environmental compliance efforts, and sustainability initiatives.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient operation through strong housekeeping and 5S practices.

    Deliver Outstanding Customer Service

    • Partner closely with customers, dispatch, sales, quality control, and operations teams.
    • Resolve issues proactively and maintain strong customer relationships.
    • Ensure products are delivered on time and meet the highest quality standards.
    • Serve as a local ambassador for Preferred Materials within the Palmetto market.

    What We're Looking For

    Required Qualifications

    • Experience within the ready mix concrete industry.
    • Strong leadership, supervisory, and team development skills.
    • Ability to manage plant operations in a fast-paced production environment.
    • Effective communication skills with employees, customers, and business partners.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Basic computer skills and ability to learn batching and operational systems.
    • Ability to work outdoors and perform the physical requirements of the role.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous Ready Mix Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Operations Supervisor, or similar leadership experience.
    • DOT certification.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
    • CDL Class A or B.
    • Experience supporting DOT, commercial, residential, and infrastructure construction projects.
