Raw Material Manager

Position Summary

The Raw Materials Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive raw materials program that supports GMP manufacturing operations. This role provides strategic oversight of material classification, qualification, supplier quality, testing programs, and risk management activities to ensure the consistent availability of compliant, high-quality materials. The position plays a critical role in regulatory readiness, supplier oversight, patient safety, and lifecycle management of raw materials used in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and cell therapy manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain risk-based raw material classification, qualification, and specification programs.
• Lead supplier qualification activities, quality agreements, change control reviews, CAPA assessments, and supplier performance management.
• Design incoming material testing, sampling plans, identity testing strategies, and material release workflows.
• Manage material disposition activities, including quarantine, release, hold, and retesting processes.
• Ensure compliance with GMP requirements, USP, Ph. Eur., and other applicable regulatory standards.
• Conduct TSE/BSE risk assessments and maintain material traceability documentation.
• Drive audit readiness, inspection preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead extractables and leachables (E&L) programs for single-use systems and product-contact materials.
• Support toxicological risk assessments and patient safety evaluations.
• Develop and implement container closure integrity testing (CCIT) strategies, validation programs, and cryogenic container closure assessments.
• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Technical Operations teams to support product quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor"s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
• Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cell therapy, or biologics environments.
• Strong knowledge of raw material qualification, supplier quality, GMP compliance, and compendial testing requirements.
• Experience with quality systems, supplier management, and regulatory inspection support

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Winston-Salem, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
