Position: Railcar Technician
Location: Grand Island, NE
Pay:$27.00/hour ($25.00 base + $2.00 shift differential)
Schedule: Monday Thursday, 4: 00 PM 2: 30 AM
Overtime: Fridays as needed
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire
What You'll Do
As a Railcar Technician, you'll help repair and restore railcars by preparing surfaces, operating blasting equipment, assisting with welding and painting and ensuring railcars are ready for finishing. This is a physically active position that offers variety every day.
Responsibilities include:
Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, paint, scale and other materials from railcars
Assist with railcar repairs and welding projects
Prepare railcars for painting, including taping, caulking, masking and final cleaning
Inspect railcars before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met
Cover sensitive railcar components to protect them during blasting
Set up, adjust, clean, maintain and store blasting equipment
Operate hand and power tools including grinders, sanding discs and other shop equipment
Assist painters and other production departments as needed
Follow all safety procedures while working indoors and outdoors
What We're Looking For
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Willing to wear a safety harness when working on railcars
Basic math, reading, and communication skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Team-oriented with a strong work ethic
Steel-toed boots required
Hiring Requirements
Must pass a 10-panel drug screen
Background information regarding felony and misdemeanor convictions within the past seven years will be discussed during the application process
Background check may be required depending on position requirements
