Railcar Inspection TechnicianLocation: West Point, GeorgiaCompany: Road & Rail ServicesJob Type: Full-Time | On-SitePay: $18.00 per hourBuild Your Skills in Railcar Inspection & RepairRoad & Rail Services is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Railcar Inspection Technician to join our West Point, Georgia, operation. This position combines hands-on railcar inspection and preparation with opportunities to use welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair skills.If you have previous welding experience and enjoy working with tools, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and working outdoors, we want to hear from you. Railroad experience is helpful but is not required. Candidates with backgrounds in welding, fabrication, automotive repair, industrial maintenance, construction, manufacturing, or other skilled trades are encouraged to apply.This is an active outdoor position. You will inspect railcars, identify damage or maintenance concerns, prepare equipment for vehicle transportation, and assist with repairs that can safely be completed at the facility.What You'll DoAs a Railcar Inspection Technician, you will:Inspect railcars for visible damage, wear, fatigue, and mechanical concernsIdentify components that need repair or replacementAssist with basic railcar repairs and maintenance as assignedPerform welding and fabrication work when qualified and requiredUse welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and other hand or power tools as neededInspect completed work to help ensure repairs meet established safety and quality requirementsClean and prepare railcar interiors for vehicle loadingUse backpack blowers, scrapers, and other equipment to remove debris and contaminantsInspect, open, and close railcar end doorsReport railcar damage, equipment problems, and safety concerns to managementMaintain tools and equipment in safe working conditionKeep work areas organized and free of avoidable hazardsFollow company, customer, railroad, and applicable safety proceduresComplete additional inspection, cleaning, repair, and housekeeping duties as assignedWhat We're Looking ForSuccessful candidates should have:Previous welding experience strongly preferredExperience with MIG, stick, or other welding processes is a plusMechanical, fabrication, maintenance, or repair experience is preferredExperience safely using grinders, cutting tools, hand tools, or power tools is a plusA valid state-issued driver's licenseA strong commitment to workplace safetyThe ability to follow written and verbal instructionsDependable attendance and reliable transportationThe ability to work effectively as part of a teamA willingness to learn railcar inspection and repair proceduresPrevious railroad experience is not required. We are willing to train dependable candidates who bring mechanical ability, welding experience, and a strong work ethic.Physical & Work Environment RequirementsThis is a hands-on industrial position performed primarily outdoors.
