Description

Radiology Technologist Student (Per Diem)

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Radiology Technologist Student to join our team in a Per Diem/Relief (0.00 FTE), variable schedule position.

Pay Range

$33.13 - $49.69 per hour, plus a 15% differential in lieu of benefits.

Compensation is based on several factors, including education, training, experience, seniority, collective bargaining agreements, and other job-related qualifications.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of a Radiologic Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures while developing your clinical skills in a professional healthcare environment. This role provides hands-on experience using radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment while delivering exceptional patient care across multiple care settings.

You may work in a variety of locations, including:

  • Main Radiology Department
  • Emergency Department
  • Surgical Services
  • Nursing Units
  • Satellite Clinics and Operations

What You'll Do

  • Perform radiology procedures under the direction of a licensed Radiologic Technologist.
  • Select appropriate patient positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Operate fixed and mobile imaging equipment according to established procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report operational concerns.
  • Assist physicians during imaging procedures.
  • Support the administration of contrast media as directed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation.
  • Follow aseptic and infection prevention practices.
  • Safely transfer and position patients for imaging exams.
  • Process and review images using digital radiography systems.
  • Initiate basic life support measures when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required

  • Currently enrolled in the final year of an accredited 2- or 4-year Radiologic Technology program.
  • Must be in good academic and clinical standing.

Experience

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

Licensure and Certifications

Required Upon Hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification, registration, or licensure as required by Washington State (X-RayTechnician Registration).

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound clinical judgment and the ability to respond to urgent patient care situations.
  • Ability to safely position patients and perform imaging procedures with proper alignment and technique.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Additional Information

At PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Radiology Technologist Student status may be maintained for up to two months after graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. This allows time to obtain ARRT(R) certification.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.
  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.
  • Reaching frequently.

Environmental Conditions

Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
