    Job Summary:

    The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures (primarily fluoroscopy and/or portable X-ray) to support surgical and procedural cases within the ambulatory surgery center. This role ensures accurate, high-quality imaging while maintaining strict radiation safety protocols and supporting physicians during image-guided procedures.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Operate C-arm fluoroscopy and/or portable X-ray equipment during surgical procedures (e.g., orthopedic, pain management, spine cases)
    • Position patients and equipment to obtain accurate diagnostic images per physician direction
    • Ensure radiation safety practices (ALARA principles) for patients, staff, and self; monitor and document radiation exposure
    • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot imaging equipment; coordinate service/repairs with vendors
    • Verify physician orders and confirm correct patient, procedure, and site (supports Universal Protocol/Time Out)
    • Maintain accurate imaging records and ensure compliance with state radiology licensure and facility policies
    • Assist with equipment setup/breakdown and OR turnover between cases
    • Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment testing and radiation safety audits
    • Adhere to infection control, sterile field, and OSHA/OSHA-related safety standards
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff to ensure efficient case flow
    • Maintain required certifications and continuing education

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
    • Current state license/registration as a Radiologic Technologist (or state-specific equivalent)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
    • BLS certification required (ACLS may be preferred depending on case mix)
    • Prior experience in an OR, surgery center, or interventional setting strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of radiation safety standards and sterile technique

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand for extended periods, wear lead aprons (10-15+ lbs) for full case duration
    • Ability to lift/move equipment and assist with patient positioning
    • Manual dexterity for equipment operation in sterile environments

    Work Environment:

    • Operating room setting with exposure to radiation (mitigated by protective equipment), bodily fluids, and sterile field protocols
    • PRN scheduling depending on case volume; may require early morning start times
