Description

Job Summary:

Operate diagnostic radiologic equipment to produce radiographic images of the body. Handle specialized radiographic equipment such as Screening Mammography, Computerized Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging for diagnostic purposes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Position patients and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified body areas as requested by physicians.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding, cooperation, and to reduce anxiety.
  • Administer appropriate pharmaceuticals, place IVs, and administer enemas as required for procedures.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Move radiographic equipment into specified positions and adjust controls to set graphic exposure factors based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Obtain acceptable radiographic images using appropriate Computerized Radiology and CR/DR techniques and protocols.
  • Acquire and disseminate patient information data for exam orders using the Hospital EMR System.
  • Document information in patient charts as required or necessary.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure proper operating status of equipment.
  • Report malfunctions according to established protocols.
  • Maintain examination rooms and stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies according to established protocols.
  • Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
  • Work directly with patients and/or customers and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Six months to one year of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols, including CR/Film screen exposure techniques, Computerized Tomography, Mammography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to properly administer pharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures.
  • Knowledge of sharps usage practices and techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to integrate the analysis of data to develop knowledge, concepts, or interpretations.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Attention to detail in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Required Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Required Certification & Licensure:

  • Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current CPR Certification.

Shift:

1-2 Years of CT and X-Ray experience
