    Contract Dates: August 17, 2026 – November 30, 2026
    Shift: 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM
    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5 days/week
    Experience Required: 1+ year
    Additional Requirement: Travel Radiology Technician experience preferred

    The Radiology Technician performs diagnostic imaging procedures and provides safe, accurate, and patient-centered radiologic services. The technician prepares examination rooms, positions patients and equipment, operates radiographic equipment, produces diagnostic-quality images, and monitors patients throughout examinations.

    The Radiology Technician will document examination information, communicate important findings or information to physicians, maintain patient records, monitor radiation safety, manage radiographic supplies, and assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of radiographic equipment.

    This position requires a qualified Radiology Technician who is comfortable working an overnight schedule in a diagnostic radiology environment and can provide safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging services.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare examination rooms and radiographic equipment for patient examinations.

    Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging procedures and explain procedures clearly.

    Position patients and radiographic equipment appropriately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

    Operate radiographic and computerized imaging equipment according to established procedures.

    Enter commands and patient data into computer systems to document examinations and specify scan sequences.

    Monitor video displays and imaging parameters to adjust density, contrast, and other technical factors as appropriate.

    Produce clear, usable diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

    Monitor patients during examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition.

    Follow established radiation safety procedures and take appropriate measures to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.

    Administer radiopharmaceuticals when required and within applicable scope of practice, training, and authorization.

    Provide appropriate patient care and maintain patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout examinations.

    Report important patient or examination information to physicians and other appropriate healthcare professionals.

    Maintain accurate and timely patient records and examination documentation.

    Organize daily procedure schedules and coordinate imaging needs, including emergency examinations.

    Monitor and maintain adequate radiographic supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need replenishment.

    Answer technical questions related to radiographic procedures and provide appropriate pre-procedure instructions.

    Assist with scheduling appointments and other administrative responsibilities as required.

    Perform scheduled maintenance activities on radiographic equipment.

    Assist with troubleshooting and emergency repairs or escalate equipment issues to appropriate technical personnel.

    Maintain compliance with applicable hospital policies, radiation safety standards, infection prevention procedures, and regulatory requirements.

    Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team.

    Provide compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care.

    Perform other radiology and imaging duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Current and valid Radiologic Technologist/Radiology Technician license or certification appropriate for the state of Iowa and applicable role requirements.

    Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technician/Radiologic Technologist experience.

    Experience performing diagnostic radiographic examinations.

    Knowledge of radiographic positioning and imaging techniques.

    Ability to operate radiographic and computerized imaging equipment safely and effectively.

    Knowledge of radiation safety principles and procedures.

    Ability to properly position patients and equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images.

    Ability to monitor patients during imaging procedures and respond appropriately to patient needs.

    Strong attention to detail and technical skills.

    Strong patient-care, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to accurately document examination and patient information.

    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced diagnostic radiology environment.

    Ability to work the required overnight schedule.

    Ability to work 40 hours per week.

    Ability to work onsite in Waterloo, Iowa.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Recent traveler/contract Radiology Technician experience.

    Experience working in a hospital-based diagnostic radiology department.

    Experience with multiple radiographic imaging systems and computerized imaging platforms.

    Experience handling emergency and time-sensitive imaging procedures.

    Experience with radiopharmaceutical administration, where applicable to scope of practice and facility requirements.

    Experience with radiographic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

    Strong experience working collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
