Primary Accountability

The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.

  • Responsible for performing x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.

  • Prepares room, equipment, and necessary paperwork.

  • Prepares the patient for the examination and explains the procedure to the patient.

  • Provides radiation protection for the patient according to prescribed safety standards.

  • Transfers patient to and from x-ray room; positions patient correctly for x-ray being taken.

  • Operates x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, thus producing good quality radiographs.

  • Follows protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images.

  • Develops films using automatic processor.

  • Places patient identification and markers on radiographs.

  • Collaborates with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.

  • Reports equipment failures and participates in quality assurance.

  • Inventories and order supplies.

  • Maintains Patient Daily Log.

  • Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions. Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law.

  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must:

  • Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, and technical skills.
  • Must have proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5 and health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Bachelor's degree.
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience demonstrating knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures, including the operation of X‑ray equipment and an understanding of imaging techniques.
  • Successful completion of a formal program of education specific to radiology tech and have a Radiology Technologist certification.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.

Licenses & Certifications: Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the state of California.

Communications Skills:

  • Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
  • Employees are expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
  • Requires the effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Physical Demands: Moderate risk even with controls in place (sharp objects, etc.).

Pay Scale:

Min Hourly Rate: $30.79

Max Hourly Rate: $42.49
