Radiology & Cardiology Catheterization Lab Technician

Location: Santa Monica, CA
Start Date: ASAP
Facility: Acute Care Hospital | 266 Staffed Beds | STEMI & Stroke Receiving Center | 4 Labs
Charting: Epic

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Radiology & Cardiology Catheterization Lab Technician to support a high-acuity, multi-specialty procedural environment. The technician will work across cardiac, electrophysiology, structural heart, interventional radiology, vascular, and interventional neuro procedures.

This position requires a minimum of 1 year of acute-care Cath Lab experience. First-time travelers are welcome; prior travel experience is not required.

Schedule & Call Requirements

  • Monday–Friday schedule with required call
  • Weekend and holiday call requirements
  • Weekday call: 5:30 PM–7:00 AM
  • Weekend/Holiday call: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
  • Approximately 10–14 call shifts per 42-day schedule
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager discretion
  • Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of initial submission
  • Pending license not accepted

Clinical Areas Supported

The technician may support:

  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiology
  • STEMI and PCI
  • Electrophysiology (EP)
  • Structural heart procedures
  • TAVR/TMVR
  • Watchman
  • MitraClip
  • VTE thrombectomy
  • Interventional radiology
  • Interventional neuro
  • Stroke thrombectomy
  • Carotid interventions

EP and structural-heart experience are not required. Stroke and/or IR experience is highly preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year acute-care Cath Lab experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • ARRT(R) or RCIS/CCI RCIS
  • Fluoroscopy permit
  • Required state license
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Travel experience not required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Core Responsibilities

  • Accurate patient monitoring
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Equipment setup and operation
  • EKG lead placement
  • Patient preparation and access-site preparation
  • Scrub and maintenance of sterile field
  • Room circulation
  • Stocking and maintaining procedural supplies
  • Peripheral and venous access
  • Support multiple procedural specialties within the lab

Cardiac Cath Procedures

Experience with:

  • Adult diagnostic catheterizations
  • Left and right heart catheterization
  • PCI
  • PTCA
  • Cardiac stent placement
  • Angioplasty
  • Rotablator atherectomy
  • Temporary pacemaker insertion
  • Impella insertion
  • ASD closure
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • ECMO
  • TAVR
  • Watchman/LAA closure

Vascular & Neuro Procedures

Experience with:

  • Vascular studies and procedures
  • Carotid angiography
  • Carotid stenting
  • Thrombolysis/thrombectomy
  • Neuro stent placement
  • Embolization
  • Coil embolization
  • Peripheral procedures
  • Venous access

EP Procedures

EP experience is preferred but not required. Exposure may include:

  • Arrhythmia induction
  • Baseline measurements
  • Cardiac mapping
  • Cardiac ablation
  • Cardioversion
  • Conduction studies
  • EP evaluation
  • Pacemaker insertion
  • AICD insertion/programming
  • LAA closure
  • Tilt-table studies
  • Circulating EP procedures

Work Environment

  • 4 procedural labs
  • Diagnostic cardiac Cath Lab
  • Interventional cardiac Cath Lab
  • EP Lab
  • Interventional Neuro
  • Interventional Radiology
  • High-acuity STEMI and stroke environment
  • Cross-specialty floating within the lab is required
