    The Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) will provide services timely and efficiently at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by the department. The Technologist will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Imaging Services Policy and Procedure Manual. Has a working competence in other specialized areas, Surgery, and CT. Required to work holidays as well as being responsible for rotating call for emergency procedures after hours. Will assist in assigned administrative tasks and will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Essential Functions:

    • Provides care to all patients according to Imaging Services policy and procedure and patient care standards.
    • Performs imaging procedures independently by interpreting the order, assessing the patient, completing necessary paperwork, positions the patient, selecting appropriate equipment and supplies, selecting accurate technique factors, making exposures, processes, critiques and prepares films for interpretation.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and competence of C-arm and/or computer tomography.
    • Performs procedures in Surgery, ER, ICU and other nursing units using portable equipment.
    • Generates patient requisitions through order entry, assigns x-ray numbers, markings the film with the correct patient information, pulls folders, files reports, files folders, and acknowledges patient charges.
    • Transportation of patients as needed to and from the Imaging services department.
    • Practices radiation safety techniques and is responsible for marking and labeling films correctly.
    • Assist the radiologist during fluoroscopic and other special procedures requiring sterile technique.
    • Ability to take directions from physicians and supervisors and follow through in a concise manner, which promotes efficiency.
    • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

    Qualifications:

    • Certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
    • Graduate of Radiologic Technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCRET) required.
    • Two years of experience preferred. Qualified and credentialed to perform diagnostic radiology exams.
    • One Year working competency preferred in one section of other specialized area: Surgery and/or CT.
    • BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
