    Position Summary

    Under the immediate direction of the Chief Radiation Therapist, Radiation Oncologists and in conjunction with the Chief Physicist, and the Director, the radiation therapist assumes the responsibility of the technical aspect of patient management and treatment. Applies professional knowledge and skills to the treatment, simulation, treatment planning, dosimetric calculations, and fabrication of specialized treatment aids, and accurate treatment in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Responsible for patient scheduling, correct billing, following department policies and procedures, chart and plan safety checks, performing and aligning patient imaging for treatment, machine QA and warmup, treatment plan QA, troubleshooting machine problems, taking call, working with other departments to manage interdisciplinary treatments, assessing patients for side effects of high radiation doses, and maintaining correct treatment records. Other responsibilities will be assigned as appropriate.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program

    License/Registration/Certifications

    • Current ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy
    • License through SCQRSA

    Preferred Requirements

    Preferred Experience

    • 1 year in a progressive radiation oncology department

    Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

    • Member of the ASRT
    • Member of the SCSRT

    • Work independently and be on call after hours as assigned
