R&T Manufacturing Technician

Work Schedule: 5X8 3rd Shift = Sunday-Thursday 11:00 pm-7:00 am, 20% shift differential

Job Purpose:

The R&T Manufacturing Technician supports AEC's mission to advance composite technologies by operating specialized manufacturing and prototype‑development equipment. In this role, you will work closely with R&T engineers to develop, test, and refine processes that strengthen AEC's technical capabilities and enable new applications across aerospace and defense programs. Technicians contribute directly to early‑stage innovation by building prototypes, working with advanced materials, and helping to create and improve work instructions.

• Perform manufacturing operations in support of aerospace and defense customer requirements and program objectives.
• Operate a range of machinery and manufacturing process related to
• Operate a variety of manufacturing and prototype‑development machinery used in composite fabrication.
• Work hands‑on with advanced materials, including carbon fiber, resins, and other composite systems.
• Support prototype builds and research‑driven development activities across aerospace and defense programs.
• Partner closely with R&T engineers to conduct tests, troubleshoot issues, and refine manufacturing processes.
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and improving work instructions and process documentation.

Follow detailed work instructions with strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications/Characteristics:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures.  Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts.  Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.

Physical requirements:

• Frequently positions sheets of material onto molds and/or manually sands parts, etc…
• Frequent repetitive hand movements, use of hand tools - pliers, sanders, scissors, etc…
• Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
• Must be able to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts, etc…
• Frequently moves molds and parts >35 lbs between worktables and carts
