R&D Technician I

Associate's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a related scientific discipline; no prior experience required. Perform in-life and terminal study activities, including animal health evaluations, test compound administration, body weight measurements, and physical observations.

We are currently seeking a ­­­­­­­­R&D Lab Technician for a prominent client of ours.  This position is located in ­­North Chicago, IL – 100% Onsite. Details for the position are as follows:

Pay Rate: $26/hour
Duration: 1 Year
Schedule: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM; occasional weekday/weekend overtime

Job Description

• Execute non-clinical laboratory studies according to study protocols, SOPs, and GLP requirements.
• Perform in-life and terminal study activities, including animal health evaluations, test compound administration, body weight measurements, and physical observations.
• Conduct animal handling, euthanasia, necropsy support, and gross pathology observations.
• Collect biological samples/body fluids for clinical evaluation and maintain accurate study data and records.
• Prepare test compound formulations and operate laboratory equipment required for study activities.
• Support discovery studies, general study operations, and training on specialized techniques.
• Maintain compliance with SOPs, GLP, DEA policies, protocols, and study-specific requirements.

Education

• Associate's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a related scientific discipline; no prior experience required.
• Fresh Bachelor's degree candidates in a relevant life science discipline are encouraged to apply.
• High School Diploma/equivalent with four years of relevant laboratory experience may also qualify.

Required Skills

• Animal handling and comfort working with laboratory animals.
• Ability to perform or support animal euthanasia and necropsy procedures.
• Ability to administer test compounds and perform animal health/physical observations.
• Ability to collect and accurately maintain laboratory/study data.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work an early 6:00 AM–2:30 PM schedule with occasional overtime.

Preferred Skills

• Blood collection and biological sample collection.
• Laboratory animal dosing techniques.
• Prior non-clinical/animal study laboratory experience.
• Experience working under GLP and SOP-controlled laboratory environments.
• Experience with necropsy or gross pathology support.
