Description

R&D TechnicianPosition Overview:This position executes manufacturing operations on prototype and research samples, as directed by the Prototype Supervisor. The technician is also responsible for documenting equipment parameters, recipes, and key attributes for completed operations. Key Responsibilities:Perform manufacturing functions on research and prototype ordersIndependently execute the following operations for all product types:Machine set-up, shut down, and changeoverTackingLaminationLaser engravingMaterial preparation: sub assembly/surface finishesIndustrial inkjetLaser cuttingPrecision levelingCNC milling / engravingStamping and embeddingFinal inspection and packingUnderstand expectations of work instruction setDocument all parameters and processes for future repeatabilityEnsure high quality of all products while continually verifying accuracy of settingsRecord processing/quality issues and resolutionElevate to manager any manufacturing or equipment concernsCoordinate with other team members within the prototype groupIdentify and understand various materials used in buildAssist research engineers as required Other Important Responsibilities:Maintain inventory and retain controlUpdate project status tracking softwareWork with team to match previously targeted color samplesAssist production when necessaryTimely corrective action response and resolution to relevant project situationsEngage and support companywide safety and cleanliness programsOperate assigned equipment safely and efficientlyPerform miscellaneous duties as assigned Qualifications:Minimum 3 years of work experienceAssociate degree in related field preferredEnthusiastic attitude, flexible to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovativeAbility to function as an active team member with limited supervisionExcellent communication, problem solving, and time management skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to self-check own workTask oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize workloadAbility to accept responsibility and account for own actionsCapable of understanding and carrying out oral and written directivesComputer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsUse of precision measuring tools such as micrometers and caliperPhysical requirements and work environment:Must be able to lift 20 lbsMust be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:Sitting in an office chairTypingReaching for the telephoneStanding at office equipmentHearing for phone useSight for computer useMust be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:Standing at machineryReaching and pulling to operate machinerySight for machinery operationWalking through shopOffice environment is of moderate noise levelShop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommendedShort notice, overtime and some weekend demand according to production needsAbout CompoSecure CompoSecure, a GPGI business (NYSE: GPGI), is the leading manufacturer of Premium Metal Payment Cards and also offers best-in-class Authentication and Digital Asset solutions.
