Overview

The R&D Specifications Technician supports product development by managing specifications and standards within Enovia while also assisting with hands-on laboratory and process work. This role is well suited to someone who can work accurately in structured systems, execute procedural experiments, and contribute to day-to-day applied research in a fast-paced technical environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to balance documentation, data review, and laboratory execution.

Responsibilities

  • Route Enovia materials and standards for peer review and approval.
  • Originate, revise, and maintain specifications within Enovia.
  • Interpret relationships between master specifications, individual specifications, and related standards.
  • Perform hands-on experimental and procedural laboratory work in support of applied research activities.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain processes and equipment in an R&D environment.
  • Execute standard test methods, sample preparation, and sample analysis with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review experimental data and results, recognize unusual findings, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Develop a working understanding of key process inputs and outputs to support product and process improvement.
  • Identify more efficient ways to complete routine tasks and help improve productivity.
  • Support onboarding to internal systems, equipment, and standard operating procedures required for daily work.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Experience routing materials and standards in Enovia for peer review and approval.
  • Ability to originate and revise specifications in Enovia.
  • Understanding of the relationship between master specifications, individual specifications, and related standards.

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and table comparisons.
  • Experience working with fill weight sheets or similar technical data tracking tools.
  • Hands-on laboratory or procedural experimentation experience.
  • Ability to safely and independently operate equipment in an R&D or technical environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of standard laboratory methods, sample analysis, and equipment operation.
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field, or a high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
  • Working knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
