Your Role

Akkodis is seeking an R&D Engineer for a Contract job with a client in St. Paul, MN. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in systems engineering, product development, and complex hardware/software integration, along with a background in medical device development.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $58/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

R&D Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Lead system engineering activities for advanced electrophysiology and cardiac mapping products from concept through commercialization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, develop, integrate, and validate complex hardware, software, and signal-processing systems.

  • Develop system architecture, system behavior models, use cases, and design input requirements based on clinical and business needs.

  • Work closely with Product Marketing, Clinical Engineering, and key stakeholders to translate user requirements into innovative product solutions.

  • Lead system integration activities, root cause investigations, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving efforts.

  • Ensure compliance with Abbott, FDA, ISO, and applicable regulatory requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 10+ years of experience developing complex electrical, software, hardware, and signal-processing based systems.

  • Strong experience with: Systems Engineering, Product Development, System Integration, Hardware & Software Development, Signal Processing, Technical Leadership

  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts and driving successful new product development programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience.

  • Medical device industry experience, particularly in: Cardiac Mapping Systems, Electrophysiology Products, Ablation Technologies.

  • Knowledge of IEC 60601 and related medical device electrical safety regulations.

  • Experience working within regulated medical device development environments.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $58.00 per hour
