Job Overview:

The R&D Engineer I role is primarily focused on leading product testing activities within the lab. The engineer oversees the building and instrumentation of testing units, collects and analyzes data, and reports findings to the design team. Responsibilities include physical testing, data collection, troubleshooting mechanical and instrumentation issues, and programming with software such as LabVIEW. The role may involve building units from scratch or assembling pre-built units, adding instrumentation like temperature and pressure sensors, and ensuring proper operation during tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide lab support to design engineers and other team members by assisting with running lab tests and technical evaluations.
  • Testing and Prototyping
  • Develop and conduct experiments and tests to validate designs and prototypes.
  • Assist with setup and instrumentation of test units to ensure compliance with test procedures and accuracy of data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions to enhance performance.
  • Maintain accurate records, including design files, testing data, and reports.
  • Communicate project progress and findings through technical reports and presentations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of total work experience
  • 2+ years collaboration with cross-functional teams and a focus on testing and data analysis to support product development and innovation.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

  • Position is site based in Quincy, IL
  • Travel less than 10% to domestic testing and manufacturing facilities

Preferences:

2+ years experience in New Product Development or R&D

The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
