Job Description

Lead the development and introduction of innovative products for both existing markets and emerging applications. Oversee mechanical engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring technical and business objectives are achieved. Plan, execute, and document validation testing for new designs and product enhancements. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for future product offerings. Assess customer requirements and translate application needs into effective engineering solutions. Facilitate research and development initiatives across teams to support product innovation and continuous improvement. Drive value-engineering efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities and incorporating them into product designs. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including engineering analyses and laboratory testing summaries. Compile supporting technical data and records related to intellectual property and patent submissions. Coordinate the successful launch of new or modified products into production, including goal setting, team training, and performance evaluation. Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and engineering teams to optimize product designs, tooling strategies, and production efficiency. Manage product certification activities, including regulatory testing, agency submissions, and compliance approvals with organizations such as ETL and UL. Travel as needed to support project, supplier, customer, or testing requirements, up to approximately 20%.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technical field Required. Masters Degree in Engineering or technical field required. 5+ years of managing complex engineering/design projects from concept to production. Experience in sheet metal fabrication. Knowledgeable in product and reliability testing. Strong Lean/CI project experience with verifiable cost reductions. Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently. Expert with AutoCAD/Autodesk Inventor. Exposure and understanding of electromechanical design elements (for example, PLCs, electric motors, regulators, sensors, control systems). Ability and experience working with customers and vendors. Six Sigma Certification a plus.
