    What's the job?

    The Quarry Plant Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of activities for quarry operators, heavy equipment drivers as well as skilled maintenance personnel. The Supervisor will manage, monitor and direct the activities of all assigned plant crews to efficiently produce quality products. The Supervisor must be dedicated to providing leadership, direction and/or delegation of the activities for assigned crews and will oversee plant project work as assigned. Providing leadership in safety, quality, housekeeping and cost reduction. Promotes positive employee relations throughout the production operation. Accountable to ensure production and maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures.

    What do you bring?

    • Requires AAS or BS Degree in Engineering in addition to 3-5 years of Supervisory experience and/or related work experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
    • 5+ years of experience building and leading teams with a track record of success, along with the ability to develop and implement action plans.
    • Working knowledge of electrical systems is a plus.
    • Ability to lead small to medium sized cross-functional teams under high-pressure environments. Demonstrated high performance history, proven ability to execute and get results.
    • This position requires an understanding of the production operation and its practices and procedures, as well as a high level of human relation's skills to develop and motivate subordinates.
    • Must demonstrate core competencies of engagement in safe work behaviors, effective communications, listening, and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient computer skills.
    • Must have working knowledge of continual improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma.
    • A minimum of a Class B CDL.
    • Experience with MSHA regulations and guidelines

    This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

    • Supervise and direct all plant and equipment operator activities for Quarry operations to meet or exceed all established process specifications and quality requirements
    • Coordinate and establish work schedules, assignments and production requirements for operators, equipment operators and skilled maintenance daily activities
    • Perform root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable counter measures on losses related to production and maintenance activities.
    • Collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) are accomplished in a timely manner and are to a high standard of quality.
    • Must be able to counsel effectively; utilize progressive discipline, taking corrective actions when warranted for crew members
    • Coordinate blasting with driller and explosives contractor
    • Review and assign mobile maintenance daily activities
    • Observe work and monitor to ensure plant and equipment operators are meeting standard performance and will conduct/evaluate daily quality sampling
    • Assist in troubleshooting and problem solving as well as supporting activities such as Maintenance and Engineering
    • Prepare and lead meetings concerning productivity and safety as well as daily Standard Work initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, establishes, and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment, eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations, which may lead to human injury and or property damage
    • Communicate expectations, measure and assess employee performance, provide coaching and development opportunities of plant operators
    • Maintain records of plant and individual equipment performance and identifies capital improvement opportunities
    • Responsible for working knowledge and understanding of plant part diagrams and equipment specs
    • Will initiate quotes and order specialized parts and equipment from vendors and work orders as necessary
    • Responsible for improving the reliability of the production equipment and analyzing part spending for plant cost savings initiatives
    • Report all EH&S incidents - Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage
    • Conduct Audits and Gensuite reporting
    • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions
    • Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position Risk Analysis, JSA's and SOP's
    • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
    • Will lead cross-functional teams under high-pressure environments
