Title: Quality Control Technician
Location: Summit, IL
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
Compensation: $22.00–$28.00/hour

Must have Skill Set:
  • 1–5 years of quality laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience performing laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, HACCP, and food safety programs
  • Experience using laboratory equipment and troubleshooting minor equipment issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferred
  • SQF and/or PCQI certification preferred

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support quality and food safety initiatives at a leading food manufacturing facility in Summit, IL. This position is responsible for performing laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, ingredients, and manufacturing supplies to ensure compliance with company and regulatory quality standards. The ideal candidate will have previous food manufacturing laboratory experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety, GMPs, and laboratory practices.

Job Duties:
  • Perform routine and non-routine laboratory testing on raw materials, ingredients, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Analyze and document test results, communicating quality concerns to production and supervisory personnel.
  • Investigate out-of-specification results and assist with identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on laboratory equipment.
  • Enter laboratory data into computer systems and prepare quality reports.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate replacement of chemicals and testing supplies.
  • Partner with production teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness while following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), GMPs, and food safety requirements.
  • Support SQF, HACCP, PCQI, and overall Food Safety and Quality programs.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–5 years of laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with food manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); SAP experience is a plus.
  • SQF and/or PCQI certification preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work 2nd Shift after completing training on 1st Shift.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or OPT work authorization.
