DEPARTMENT: Quality Technician

JOB TITLE: Quality Technician

REPORTS TO: Quality Supervisor

SHIFT DAYS /HOURS: 8 hr. shifts (Mon-Fri) 7:00 Am- 3:00 Pm) Must be willing and able to work Mandatory OT on off days as necessary.

STARTING PAY: $24.70 per hour.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Maintain files in the Quality Assurance Department

  • Billet Analysis Sheets

  • Bonnell Customer-Approved Prints

  • Material Inspection Reports

  • Calibrations Records

  • Quality Audit Reports

  • ISIR Paperwork

  • Any additional quality-related information that may be required in the performance of inspection. Work independently and as part of a team.

  • Assist other personnel and perform other duties as required per supervisor.

  • Inform the Supervisor of any equipment problems or any other problems.

  • Work in a safe manner always wearing all required Proper Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free workstation.

  • Able to participate in a collaborative environment.

  • Comply with safety policies and procedures.

  • Accepts feedback from the Team Leader to ensure the bundles meet safety standards.

  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Perform Mechanical (Pull) tests on the Tensile Machine and report findings to the Customer when requested.
  • Maintain all Quality Assurance tools.
  • Verify that all inspection tools are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Order and maintain inspection tools for all other departments.
  • Perform Quality Audits for receiving in-process and outgoing material.
  • Review Inspection Reports with Extrusion Department to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Understand and coordinate the operation of the optical comparator.
  • Use a comparator to complete ISIR requests.
  • Use a comparator for PPAP requests.
  • Use a comparator for daily inspections as necessary.
  • Assist the Extrusion Department in quality inspections when required.
  • Maintain Die and Fabrication Print Files within the quality office.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and always without air conditioning.

What You Will Need:

  • Able to read and understand inspection tools. (Micrometers, calipers, comparator).
  • Able to use Webster Hardness Tester.
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Must also pass a skills-based test.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively; self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be conscientious, diplomatic, and detail-oriented.
  • Must pass a company background check and drug screen.
