SUMMARY STATEMENT/POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality operations within the automotive packaging plant to ensure customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory expectations are consistently met. This role leads quality technicians and inspectors, supports production operations, drives corrective actions, and promotes continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, packaging integrity, and customer satisfaction.
The Quality Supervisor works closely with production, shipping, receiving, engineering, and customers to maintain compliance with quality management system requirements and automotive industry standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES
- Lead day-to-day quality activities by setting clear expectations, assigning priorities, and supporting Quality Technicians, Auditors, and Inspectors across the facility.
- Use strong attention to detail to confirm incoming, in-process, and finished goods meet customer specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Coach team members on inspection methods, defect awareness, customer requirements, and proper quality documentation.
- Apply problem-solving skills to investigate quality concerns, customer complaints, internal defects, and nonconforming material.
- Coordinate containment, sorting, rework, and customer return activities with urgency to protect customers and production flow.
- Use root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, PFMEA, and Corrective Action Reports to support effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Review inspection records, audit findings, and quality documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with plant procedures.
- Communicate clearly with production, shipping, receiving, purchasing, engineering, and customer contacts to resolve quality concerns and prevent repeat issues.
- Monitor product identification and traceability to support customer requirements and internal quality system expectations.
- Support customer scorecard improvement, warranty reduction, and continuous improvement efforts through data-driven follow up and team accountability.
- Build a strong quality culture by promoting teamwork, accountability, safe work practices, and a customer-focused mindset.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or a related manufacturing/warehouse quality role.
- Basic knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Ability to lead, coach, and communicate with team members across shifts and departments.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Windows, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support both 1st and 2nd shift operations as needed.
